The White Stripes Officially Break Up

by

From whitestripes.com:

“The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health. It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.”

And

“The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.”

This is one of the best reasons to break up that I can think of. They want to preserve the integrity of their music rather than have it get diluted by potentially bad records in the future. While I am sad to see them gone, I will always cherish the time that I spent listening to their rocking music. And this everyone knows for sure: Jack White will always find a way to strangle a guitar into making the craziest of noises. You can count on that.

That might be one of the most stupid things I’ve ever heard Jack say. I think understand what he was trying to say, but it just looks so stupid written down.

I, for one, am excited for more Raconteurs and Dead Weather albums.

Don’t get me wrong, though, I will miss The White Stripes dearly. They will always have a very special place in my musical evolution.
