The Way Things Are Looking

May 13, 2010

This is not looking to be a good summer for music. Sure, a lot of albums are being released, a lot of good albums too (I guess), but I still feel like 2010 will always be remembered as a top-heavy year for music releases. Within a couple weeks of the year even beginning we already had the new Vampire Weekend album Contra, and say what you will about it, it was a very well anticipated album. Then came the new Spoon album, a fantastic album by a band known as Beach House, and many others, including the highly anticipated album by a band known as Broken Bells, one of the newest ‘super’ groups in the music scene. Heck, even in the month of May, not even half-way through the year, albums from Broken Social Scene, The National, and  LCD Soundsystem all dropped (or are dropping) one after the other. I don’t know about you, but I have a feeling that 2010 may have sent out all of the great music at the beginning of the year and the rest of the year will feel a little lacking…

Although, I am probably wrong. As seen above, I like a specific sort of music in specific genres, and my knowledge in other genres (rap, metal) is very lacking. So, dear reader, prove me wrong. What albums am I worse off for missing or not discussing? Is there still hope for 2010, or do we need to start looking forward to 2011?
