Album Update: Midlake – The Courage of Others

January 26, 2010
by

I recently had a chance to hear the new album by the band Midlake called The Courage of Others. It appears that I am a little late to this party, since their previous two albums have appeared to have garnered critical acclaim and achieved something of a cult-status. Nevertheless, I still decided to listen to their newest album with no knowledge of their other ones. The Courage of Others turned out to be a very easy album to listen to albeit hard to describe. It does sound like an older album than it actually is, with many songs reminding me of Simon and Garfunkel. It is folksy for sure; almost ethereal. Like I said before, this is a very easy album to listen to, and one I am thinking about purchasing. Give it a listen yourself on npr’s First Listen here.

The album drops on February 1st, 2010. If you enjoy it, be sure to pick up a copy!
