Broken Bells

Broken Bells is James Mercer (The Shins) and Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley), a collaboration that doesn’t work very well on paper, but when you hear the finished project you can’t help but be wowed. At first the single ‘The High Road’ didn’t really stand out to me in particular, but I find that I am more of a man for albums rather than for singles. So, when I had the chance to get the whole album I jumped on it. The result: a Shins album that sounds like something more. It is hard to not just label it as a Shins album, but that would be a disservice to Danger Mouse, who is arguably the star of the album. One of my complaints with Wincing the Night Away (2007), the latest Shins album, is that it sounds tired. Danger Mouse reinvigorates this tired formula with what I can safely call the best album of the year (so far…).

Oh yeah, the album is officially released on 3/09/10. So save your pennies.

thats the first time i’ve seen a positive web sheriff comment. haha. also, I noticed you added horse feathers to the side bar. that album is pretty sick. i couldn’t put it down after it came out. Helen is probably my favorite tune on the album.
